St Paul’s Church to organise Bung Mako Climbathon Challenge 2019

SERIAN — St Paul’s Catholic Church Bung Mako will organise the Bung Mako Climbathon Challenge from 6 am to 1 pm on 31 August at Ranchan Recreation Park, Serian. It is the centre for the Start and Finishing points.

The Climbathon is organised by the St Paul’s Catholic Church Bung Mako Committee with the help of St Theresa’s Church and JKK Kampung Seroban.

The objectives of organising this activity are:

  1. To raise funds to complete the St Paul’s Church at Bung Mako.
  2. To promote Bung Mako as a pilgrimage site.
  3. To celebrate the 4th anniversary of St Paul’s Church.
  4. To foster better relationships among the children of God.
  5. To encourage healthy activities.

This community activity is strongly supported by ADUN N23 Bukit Semuja YB Tuan John Ilus and Rector Fr Paul Herry and the St Theresa’s Parish Pastoral Council.

The Organising Committee cordially invites all interested persons to participate in this first fundraising project for the betterment of St Paul’s Church at Bung Mako. Registration forms are obtainable from the St Theresa’s Church Office until 31 July.

Fr Paul Herry also hopes that many children of God from far and near will participate for the good cause.

The four categories of the 7 Km Climbathon for men and women shall be: (a) Open (18 years old and above), (b) Youth (below 17 years old), (c) Veteran (40 years old and above) and (d) 3 Km Fun Hike (open).

The fees for the Open and Veteran categories are RM60 per participant while the Youth and 3 Km Fun Hike are RM50 per participant.

Cash prizes, medals and T-shirts will be awarded to all winners.

Bung Mako was identified as a pilgrimage site by the Rector of Serian Parish, Fr Paul Herry who celebrated the first pilgrimage Holy Mass there on 31 August 2015. Thereafter, many pilgrimage Masses have been celebrated. Some improvements to the church and the foot path were completed with the assistance and donations from the faithful.
