BETONG — On 20 January, all Catholic teachers and students of SMK Datuk Patinggi Kedit, Betong had the opportunity to celebrate the Holy Mass. The Mass was celebrated by the Rector of Sri Aman Parish, Fr Jerome Juleng to pray for the opening of the 2020 Catholic religious class and to strengthen the bond and unity in the love of Jesus Christ among the school children.

About eight teachers and 45 students from Form 1 to Pre-U are Catholics at this school.

Among the most frequent programs are the First Holy Communion and Confirmation Classes held every Thursday evening. The First Holy Communion Class is run by Catechist Grace while the Confirmation Class is run by Brian Leonusia.

In his homily during the Holy Mass, Fr Jerome Juleng had the opportunity to remind students of a deeper understanding about the meaning of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ in each celebration of the Holy Mass. They are encouraged to be united in Christ as a form of church ministry.

Catholic religious coordinator of SMK Datuk Patinggi Kedit, Alphonsa Anthony, expressed her gratitude and thanks to God for the school’s continued support in the implementation of the religious classes at this school. At the same time, she also expressed gratitude for the commitment and cooperation of all Catholic teachers, including Catechist Grace, Brian Leonusia and students who have given their cooperation in religious classes. May God bless.
