KOTA KINABALU — From 1-4 May 2025, the Catholic Archdiocesan Centre at Kota Kinabalu was filled with joy and spiritual fervor as the 9th OCDS Malaysia National Congress brought together members of the four OCDS communities in Malaysia—Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Miri, and Kota Kinabalu—for a time of prayer, fellowship, and reflection.
Held once every three years, this special gathering allowed members to reconnect, share experiences, and plan for the implementation of this year’s theme: “Jesus Our Hope.”
The Congress was graced by the esteemed presence of:
- The Most Reverend Archbishop of Kota Kinabalu John Wong Soo Kau, DD
- Rev Fr Ramiro Casale, OCD, General Delegate
- Rev Fr Christianus Surinono, OCD, Definitor General
- Rev Fr Anselm Phang, OCD, General Delegate of Singapore-Thailand-Malaysia Delegation
- Rev Fr Mattheus Luta, Chaplain to KK OCDS Community
- Rev Fr Nicholas Hoh, OCD, Superior of OCDS Malaysia
- Rev Fr Chin Sin Wee, OCD, Spiritual Assistant to Miri OCDS Community
The program was rich with spiritual nourishment, including:
- Prayer of Lauds and Evening Prayer
- Celebration of the Holy Eucharist
- Sacrament of Reconciliation
- Fellowship and sharing sessions
- The Election of the New National Council members
The atmosphere was one of deep fraternity and hope, as members renewed their commitment to living out the Carmelite charism in their daily lives. The joy of reuniting after three years made this Congress truly unforgettable, strengthening bonds and inspiring all to carry the light of l”Jesus Our Hope” into the next three years.
