KUCHING — “But when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will be filled with power, and you will be witnesses for me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
The verse from the Acts of the Apostles, which was printed on the T-shirts of all the quiz officials and helpers helped to set the scene for the 28th National SPM Bible Quiz’s Kuching Regional Quiz which was held on Saturday 14 June 2025 at St Joseph’s Private Secondary School.
The Quiz began bright and early with a prayer led by Fr Stanley Goh, SJ, the Coordinator for the Regional Quiz along with some words of encouragement from Mr Thomas Huo, representing the Federation of Christian Mission Schools in Malaysia (FCMSM). All the participants were then led in a time of praise and worship by the Young Christian Students (YCS) of SMK St Joseph’s, reminding everyone that the Lord Jesus, King of Kings, is at the centre of the Quiz and all our efforts.
It was then that the Quiz began in earnest. The participants adjourned to classrooms where they did a written multiple-choice test on the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. Following this, they gathered in the Atrium in their teams for the oral portion of the Quiz. Teams were challenged to a variety of questions on Luke and Acts which included short answer questions, a speed round and some more complex context questions.
After the intense competition among the 26 teams, five teams emerged victorious, earning well-deserved trophies and securing their places in the National Finals of the 29th National SPM Bible Quiz which will be held on 12 July 2025 at Catholic High School, Petaling Jaya.

It was truly a day dedicated to the Lord, where his word resounded through all the earth. Despite the challenging questions and stress that the participants encountered during the Quiz, they all proved to be good witnesses as they showed their knowledge and enthusiasm for the Word. The sense of community that developed among everyone present – participants, volunteers and helpers, demonstrated how the Word has the potential to bring people together in faith and hope. We wish our finalists all the best as they prepare for the national competition and pray that God’s Word continues to deepen in their lives.
