KUCHING — The Annual Meeting for Parents and Faith Formators for the English Sunday School of Blessed Sacrament Church (BSC) was held at the beginning of the Sunday School session, attended by about 100 parents and eight teachers.

The meeting on 8 February 2026 at the BSC Hall was to provide an opportunity for the English Sunday School EXCO to engage with parents regarding the overall direction of the Sunday School, upcoming events, rules and regulations, and the formation of a Parents’ Group to support teachers in future activities.

The session began with a presentation by Faith Formation Chairman, James Bilong. He introduced the parish and highlighted the various ministries within the Church. He then introduced the teachers serving in the English Sunday School and outlined the different class levels. Parents were also briefed on the planned events for the first half of the Sunday School calendar.

This was followed by a sharing from James Noik, the Sunday School Adviser, who explained the rules and regulations of the Sunday School and emphasised the important role parents play in supporting their children’s faith formation.

Subsequently, Teacher Maria presented the proposal to form a Parents’ Group to assist teachers in organising and supporting Sunday School events and activities for the children.

During the Question-and-Answer session, several parents raised queries regarding upcoming events and matters concerning their children. Teacher Colyne also addressed the parents briefly on the importance of informing teachers if their children require additional support, particularly children with special needs such as autism. She encouraged parents not to feel hesitant or ashamed to share such information, as it would enable teachers to provide better care and assistance.

Although the Sunday School currently has limited trained personnel in this area, efforts will be made to support these children and to seek professional assistance where necessary.
