MIRI — On 15 Novemver 2025, the Home Cell Group Assembly was successfully organised with the attendance of over 130 parishioners. Led by Sr Leah, Sr Anne, and Sr Eden, the main objective of the program was to strengthen spiritual life, foster community spirit, social connections, and communal harmony among the parishioners in Tudan, who were divided into three “Home Cell Groups.”
With the main aim of strengthening spiritual life, community spirit, social connections, and interaction among parishioners from different Lorong’s, the Home Cell Group serves as a platform for parishioners to support one another and grow together in faith. The creation of the Home Cell Group was one of Bishop Richard’s greatest desires for the parish and was realised through the dedicated efforts of the Sisters.
The origins of the Home Cell Group began with home visits conducted by the three Sisters, along with several volunteers throughout the Tudan area. They conducted interviews and profiling, especially concerning the sacraments received by each parishioner. Subsequently, a core group was formed, consisting of 15 members divided into three teams to assist the Sisters in all activities, including meetings, planning, and program implementation.
The assembly commenced with an action song and a lively praise and worship session, followed by a sharing from Sr Leah on the journey of establishing the Home Cell Group from a small gathering that has now grown into an active community, supporting one another and growing together in faith.
Participants were then divided into small groups for sharing. Three reflection questions were provided for discussion:
1. What has been your experience participating in the Home Cell Group, and how has it helped your faith grow?
2. What challenges or weaknesses in our ministry need attention?
3. What small steps in our ministry can be improved or enhanced?
Each group then presented their reflections openly. This session strengthened the understanding of faith through shared experiences, insights, and encouragement among one another.
In his message, Fr Ronald reminded the congregation with the Scripture from Ephesians 4:29:
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may give grace to those who hear it.”
He emphasised that as God’s people, we are called to be the eyes, ears, mouth, and hands of Christ — conveying love, hope, and truth through uplifting words and actions. This gathering is not merely a weekly activity but a mission to know God and become His instruments in daily life.
Side activities such as Q&A sessions and quizzes for children and youths added joy to the event while providing spiritual learning in a cheerful environment. Adults and senior parishioners also had the opportunity to share experiences and suggestions to strengthen the implementation of the Home Cell Group within the community.
The purpose of these activities was to encourage more Catholics in the Tudan area to participate actively in ministry, faith development, and community life.
In terms of preparation, the event was well-organised and carried out with dedication. The display table featuring statues of Jesus, Mother Mary, St Anthony, the Bible, and video presentations was arranged neatly and attractively. The registration desk and dining area were also managed effectively by committed volunteers.
Additionally, there was a beautifully decorated photo and video exhibition showcasing the activities of parishioners participating in the Home Cell Group at various homes according to the scheduled rotation. The exhibition highlighted their involvement in activities such as praying the Rosary, Gospel sharing, praise, worship, and spiritual singing.
The cooperation of parishioners from early preparation to the conclusion of the program created a positive impact and contributed to the lively atmosphere. The gathering became even more meaningful as parishioners brought pot blessings to share and worked together to clean the Church compound as a sign of unity and love within the community.
Overall, this assembly not only strengthened faith but also deepened unity and renewed the spirit of service. May initiatives like this continue to be a channel of blessings and spiritual growth for the entire St Anthony Tudan community.
