KUCHING — Our Boys’ Brigade companies, 11th Kuching Company based at Blessed Sacrament Church and 16th Kuching Company based at St. Joseph’s Cathedral, have made significant accomplishments this year since their inception, 11KCHBB in 2018 and 16KCHBB in 2021.

11KCHBB Staff Sergeant Darrell Goh, who is also St. Joseph’s Private School’s alumnus, had achieved the President’s Award Malaysia 2025 on 24 May 2025. He is the first recipient of the President’s Award in his company. The President’s Award is the second-highest award attainable in the Boys’ Brigade. The recipient shows substantial growth in the areas of physical fitness, social engagement, education and spirituality. After four to five years of hard work, meeting his targets and gaining awards, as well as commendations from his family and wider community, he was able to achieve this milestone.

Lance Corporal Jacob Sim Hong Jun of 11KCHBB won the second prize in Category C in the State Drill Theory Quiz Competition 2025. Corporal Benjamin Tan was the third runner-up in the Boys’ Brigades’ State Level Art Competition.

11KCHBB Staff Sergeant Anselm Chin, Lance Corporal Edward Kiu, Private Chen Lin Taw and Junior Darren Sabanau from 16KCHBB made headlines when they topped the Boys’ Brigade National Bible Quiz State Qualifying Round and were selected to be in the National Bible Quiz Final in Kuala Lumpur.

Not to be outdone were the Junior members who represented their company in the Regional Drill Competition in June and in the Sarawak Southern Region Boys’ Brigade Miaw Games 2025 in August. 11KCHBB was the first-ever Junior Challenge Winner in the history of these biennial games. Junior Ezekiel Lai, Junior Moses Tie, Junior Ocean Tan, Junior Marcus Jee, Junior Chen Lin Teng and Junior Theodore Julius Colin contributed to the medal tally while Junior Joseph Phan, Junior Ezac Mathias Chaong and Junior Daniel Teng represented their company.
