KOTA SENTOSA — On 17 May, members of the Sacred Heart Parish Pastoral Council and the St Mark’s Church Committee gathered at the Immaculate Heart Centre in Kota Sentosa for a special formation session. The purpose of the gathering was to deepen their understanding of the parish’s Vision and Mission, providing clarity and renewed commitment to the parish’s direction.

The session was led by our Parish Rector, Rev Fr Felix Au, who opened with a brief introduction on the importance of the new Vision and Mission. He outlined four key objectives for the session:

1. To understand the Vision and Mission statements clearly

2. To be convinced of their importance

3. To be able to articulate them to others

4. To apply them meaningfully in ministry

Fr Felix emphasised that having a clear grasp of the parish Vision and Mission is essential for councillors and lay leaders, as it directly influences how they serve.

Why It Matters

A shared understanding of the Vision and Mission helps ensure that all ministries and initiatives are aligned with the parish’s spiritual, pastoral, and community goals. This unity of purpose fosters collaboration, avoids conflicting priorities, and strengthens the overall witness of the parish community.

Clarity brings inspiration. When lay leaders and councillors are rooted in the Vision and Mission, they serve with greater conviction and purpose, nurturing a parish environment that is faith-filled, vibrant, and united in Christ.

Our Parish Vision

“To be a parish family rooted in Christ’s love, empowered by the Holy Spirit to lead, serve, and proclaim the Gospel.”

This simple yet profound statement calls each of us to grow in our relationship with Christ and with one another, transforming our faith into concrete action in our daily lives.

Our Parish Mission

To live out this Vision, five Mission pillars have been identified. Each one represents a key aspect of our shared faith journey:

1. Growing in Communion

2. Courageous and Wise in Servant Leadership

3. Ardent in Worship

4. Passionate in Mission

5. Deepening in Faith

Together, these pillars guide us as we strive to become a parish that truly embodies Christ’s love in all we do.
