KUCHING — The Parish Pastoral Council of St Joseph’s Cathedral organised a parish-level pilgrimage for more than 200 parishioners to the Church of Mt Hosanna in Sri Aman on Saturday, 18 October 2025. The pilgrims gathered as early as 6.00am at the Cathedral compound and were led by Rev Nicholas Ng, rector of St Joseph’s Cathedral, and began to check-in before entering their assigned buses which were categorised into different language groups.
Along the journey to Mt Hosanna, the pilgrims prayed the Rosary in their respective language groups according to buses i.e. English, Malay, and Mandarin. Upon arrival at the entrance to the Mt Hosanna compound, pilgrims explored the place while some climbed the steps to the Church at their own pace meaningfully. Rev Nicholas Ng had the opportunity to share with the pilgrims on his experience being a priest in the Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish of Sri Aman and being assigned to the Chapel (now Church) of Mt Hosanna, as well as the chronology of the establishment of the Chapel along with the movement of the Spirit for the Church in history.
The climax of the pilgrimage was the Eucharistic Celebration presided by Rev Nicholas Ng in three languages for the pilgrims in the Church. Celebrating the Feast of St Luke, the Evangelist, Rev Nicholas Ng reminded all pilgrims on their call to mission as Christians and to pray for the missionary zeal from the Holy Spirit in this Jubilee Year of Hope. On the journey returning to the Cathedral, the pilgrims prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet in their respective language groups and safely disembarked by 4.30pm at the Cathedral compound.
The Parish Pastoral Council of St Joseph’s Cathedral commends its heartiest appreciations to the Church of Mt Hosanna committee for their assistance during the pilgrimage, the Divine Mercy Apostolate of Kuching for preparing prayer materials for the pilgrims, as well as all sponsors, supporters, and volunteers who have made this pilgrimage possible. All glory to God!
