KUCHING — SHARE : CARE Advent Project 2025 was joyfully launched on 23 November 2025 after the Sunday evening Mass at St Joseph’s Cathedral, Kuching. This Advent activity which started since 2006 is organised by Society of St Vincent de Paul (SSVP), Conference of St Joseph Kuching. The launch ceremony was officiated by Rev Fr Nicholas Ng, Rector of St Joseph’s Cathedral Parish, Kuching together with Mr Augustine Jee, President of SSVP, Conference of St Joseph Kuching and witnessed by members of the SSVP as well as many parishioners who were present.
In his brief address, Fr Nicholas reminded the congregation that Advent is a season of hope, charity, and concrete action. The SHARE : CARE initiative reflects the heart of the Gospel—seeing Christ in the poor, the lonely, and the overlooked. Mr Augustine Jee also expressed gratitude for the parish’s continued support and highlighted how even small acts of generosity can uplift families in need.
As soon as the ceremony concluded, parishioners gathered around the beautifully decorated Wishing Tree, where each card represented a real wish from someone in need. These wishes ranged from toys for children, school essentials for students, to everyday necessities for all including the elderly.
The response from the congregation was overwhelmingly positive. Many wish-cards were immediately adopted, reflecting the parishioners’ eagerness to share love and bring hope this Christmas. A number of parishioners shared that they have been looking forward to this Advent activity every year and they were glad to be able to participate and share the love and joy of Christmas with friends-in-need.
