SINGAPORE — Anyone walking down Chapel Road in eastern Singapore these days will notice the Singapore flag fluttering at the Church of the Holy Family.
The city-state celebrates its 60th National Day on August 9 and preparations are in high gear for this landmark event.
Singapore’s parishes often join in such celebrations, which see congregations singing the National Anthem at the end of Mass.
Over the years, Singapore’s leaders have acknowledged the contributions of the Catholic Church towards nation-building, noting its work in areas such as education, healthcare, interfaith harmony and social services.
