St Edmund’s Church Celebrates Season of Creation

The spiritually revived Creation Justice Ministry.

LIMBANG (7 Sept 2025) — St Edmund’s Church joyfully came together to celebrate the Season of Creation with a Mass led by Rev Fr Henry Saleh.

In his homily, Fr Henry spoke from the heart about how God has entrusted the world to us. “Creation is God’s gift,” he said, “and we are its caretakers. Every time we protect the earth, we are saying ‘thank you’ to God.” He encouraged everyone to do small but meaningful things – like saving water, avoiding waste and planting trees – as a way of showing love for God’s creation and to discharge the responsibility that God had placed on mankind.

After Mass, parishioners gathered outside for the planting of a mango tree. The mango tree will now grow as a reminder of their shared responsibility to care for the Earth and to leave it better for future generations. Fr Henry ended with a heartfelt invitation: “Let this tree remind us that we are called to help life grow. Together, let us care for our common home.”

The St Edmund Parish’s newly commissioned Creation Justice Ministry has embarked with new spiritual zeal to help the parish on its journey to restore the harmony between God, man and all creation and to become an ecological parish.  An Eco-Corner was declared open where information on environment and initiatives is readily visible to all parishioners

The Season of Creation, held worldwide from 1 September to 4 October, is a special time for Christians to pray for and take action to protect the environment and our Common Home. St Edmund’s Church will continue with more activities throughout the month to encourage everyone to live more gently with the Earth.
