KUCHING — St Joseph’s Parish Ladies Guild held a Lenten Recollection at Union Yes Retreat and Training Centre, Lundu on 22-23 March 2025. Fr Patrick Heng’s in-depth preparatory notes were centred on the Prophet Ezekiel, the Voice of Hope for Talk 1. The 48 registered participants watched a cartoon slide on Ezekiel’s captivating vision of God’s glory, Israel’s exile, their unfaithfulness, God’s judgement and God’s mercy and the desire for the people to turn back to Him.
In Talk 2, Fr Patrick linked Ezekiel’s story of the Old Testament to the voice of Hope today and that Jesus is the fulfilment of all our hope. We, in Christ and through the Holy Spirit, must be the voices of Hope today as we journey as pilgrims of hope in today’s troubled world.
The programmes included time for reflection, question & answer sessions. Fr Patrick also factored in time for confessions before the Sunday morning Mass. All actively participated in leading Rosary prayers as well as the Stations of the Cross and singing hymns of praises. Other activities included fun games and line dancing on Sunday before the participants checked out of the Resort at 12.30noon.
