KUCHING — Blessed Sacrament Church organised a Parish Family Day on 4 May 2025 to raise funds to finance the upgrading of facilities for the community. The event also aimed to generate sufficient funds to finance the activities of the various parish ministries for the next three years.

To achieve the RM300,000 target, the ministries set up about 60 stalls to sell items ranging from plants, decorative and other non-perishable products, to all kinds of food items to tempt one’s palate. Among the local delights were beef curry, satay, lemang, pansu chicken cooked in bamboo, kachangma, barbecued meats … just to name a few.

With a lofty target to meet, stall-operators worked tirelessly to promote 6000 books of printed coupons, looked for sponsors and conducted pre-sales. Suffice to say, the parish family and food fair was a resounding success and collections far exceeded earlier expectations.

Parish Pastoral Council chairperson Pauline Lim in expressing her gratitude to one and all, said tentatively, the amount raised stands at over RM390,000, with the final accounts to be released in Church soon.

Praise the Lord for good weather and bountiful graces. Thanks to the dedication, hard work and unity of all the parish ministries, their sponsors and benefactors, it was possible to raise and even exceed the targeted RM300,000.

To sum up, the Parish Family Day fundraising embodied the parish vision of “A Eucharistic community that reveals God’s love in Christ to the world”.
