KOTA PADAWAN — On Friday night, 26 September 2025, the St Ann Feast Day celebration at Kampung Sinjok culminated with a joyful Thanksgiving Dinner that brought together all Parish ministries, Catholic Community Groups (KGT/KGK), and the faithful.

The evening was graced by the presence of His Grace Archbishop Simon Poh, who was warmly welcomed upon arrival by the Rector, friars, and the organising committee with warm handshakes and cheerful smiles.

The program began with a welcoming speech from the Rector, who expressed heartfelt gratitude for the hard work, dedication, and cooperation of all ministries and communities in making the feast a success.

This was followed by the official address from Archbishop Simon Poh, who emphasised the importance of unity within the parish community, highlighting it as the foundation for the Church’s growth. He encouraged families to embrace openness to life and contribute towards increasing the birth rate in the community. His Grace also reminded everyone to avoid excessive use of gadgets, urging families to instead strengthen their spiritual lives through daily Bible reading. He further introduced the upcoming One Borneo Bible Reading initiative, which will soon begin in Bahasa Malaysia, fostering a deeper love for Scripture across the region.

After his inspiring message, Archbishop Simon Poh was invited to lead the cake-cutting ceremony, symbolising thanksgiving and unity. This joyful moment was followed by all committee members coming together to sing the St Ann Feast Day theme song, filling the hall with energy and togetherness.

The evening then continued with a moment of appreciation, where tokens were presented to individuals and communities who had tirelessly contributed to the success of parish events throughout the year. Special recognitions were also given for the D-Day Sales 2025 in four categories:

1. Highest Increase in Sales (Small Catholic Community, below 25 families): St Teresa of Avila, Kampung Semeru

2. Highest Sales Proceeds (KGK/KGT): St Martin De Porres, Kampung Sira

3. Highest Sales Proceeds (Individual): Madam Loretha Senghing

4. Best Stall Organizers: St Patrick, Kampung Mesaan

Following the recognitions, the atmosphere was enlivened by a sponsored song performance, which lifted the spirits of all present and prepared the community for the joyful fellowship that followed.

Finally, dinner commenced on a high note with cheerful songs led by Archbishop Simon Poh, Fr Don Don Ramerez, OFM, and Fr Nelson Evarinus, OFM. Their heartfelt singing filled the hall with joy and unity, reminding everyone of the true spirit of thanksgiving and community in Christ.

The Thanksgiving Dinner was not only a celebration of the Feast of St Ann but also a reflection of the parish’s unity, gratitude, and shared faith. With His Grace’s encouragement and the tireless dedication of all ministries and communities, St Ann’s Parish continues to flourish as a vibrant family of God.

St Ann Pray for us.
