KUCHING — On 2 November, Christians attended All Souls Day Mass to commemorate those who had passed away. At the Mass at St Joseph’s Cathedral, Archbishop Simon Poh specifically asked for prayers for the souls who do not have anyone to pray for them and to remember “loved ones as we offer them in prayer to our merciful Father in heaven.”

In his homily, he talked about heaven, hell and purgatory …the in-between place for purification in order “to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven.”

At the St Peter’s Columbarium, Fr Vincent Chin celebrated Mass to a “full capacity” congregation of families who had gathered in remembrance of their loved ones.

The blessing of St Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery and the St Peter’s Columbarium took place immediately after Mass.
