Rev Fr Peter Ng Kan Lim
30 September 1941 – 20 February 2026
SIBU — With deep sorrow and yet with Christian hope in the Resurrection, we mourn the passing of Rev. Fr. Peter Ng Kan Lim, who returned to the Lord on Friday, 20 February 2026, at 4.00pm at the Home of Peace, Kota Padawan, at the age of 85.
Ordained to the priesthood on 15 December 1968, Fr. Peter faithfully served the Church for nearly four decades. His priestly ministry began in the Archdiocese of Kuching (before 1986) and later in the Diocese of Sibu, where he dedicated himself generously to the People of God. He will be especially remembered for his devoted years of service at St. Anthony’s Parish, Sarikei, where his gentle presence and pastoral heart touched countless lives.
Fr. Peter was known as a quiet, humble and deeply compassionate priest. His ministry was marked not by grandeur, but by steadfast faithfulness — celebrating the Eucharist, accompanying families in times of joy and sorrow, guiding souls with patience, and witnessing to Christ through a life of simplicity and prayer.
After his retirement from active ministry in 2005, he resided with his family in Kuching and more recently at the Home of Peace, Kota Padawan. Even in retirement, his priestly identity remained evident in his prayerful spirit and serene trust in God.
The Diocese of Sibu expresses heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Peter’s family, the staff of the Home of Peace, and the Archdiocese of Kuching for their loving care and support in his final years.
We give thanks to God for the gift of his priestly life, for his 57 years of ordained ministry, and for the many souls he shepherded with kindness and dedication. Though he will be dearly missed by the Sibu Diocese Presbyterium, parishioners, family and friends, we entrust him confidently to the mercy of the Lord whom he served so faithfully.
May the Good Shepherd now welcome His faithful servant into eternal rest.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your master.” (Matthew 25:23)
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace. Amen.
