KUCHING — Archbishop Simon Poh, speaking on behalf of Archbishops Emeriti Peter Chung and John Ha and the Catholic community in Kuching, extends heartfelt condolences to the Diocese of Sibu on the passing of Bishop Emeritus Dominic Su.
Archbishop Simon Poh recalls with deep gratitude, Bishop Emeritus Dominic Su’s guidance on his spiritual formation when he was a seminarian and Bishop his lecturer at St Peter’s College, Kuching in the 1980s, and as parish priest of St Joseph’s Cathedral, Kuching.
He was among the bishops who laid hands on him at his episcopal consecration 11 years ago. He remembers Bishop Su as “a gentle father and a humble man of deep faith. Archbishops Emeriti Peter Chung and John Ha had also served alongside him in the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.
Archbishop Simon Poh regrets that he is unable to attend the funeral on Saturday, as he is currently in Italy travelling to Rome for the Ad Limina visit with Pope Leo XIV on 22 May.
Together with the archbishops emeriti and priests of the Kuching Archdiocese, he will offer Mass on Saturday for the repose of Bishop Emeritus Dominic Su.
