Youths learn about Theology of the Body in ‘Wonderfully Made’ Programme

KUCHING (7 Sept 2025) — In today’s generation, children and teenagers are growing up heavily influenced by society and social media. They are constantly surrounded by confusing voices about identity, sexuality, and even the meaning of love. At this critical stage of development, many struggle to understand themselves, their purpose, and what God has planned for their lives.

To guide them through these questions, the Faith Formators of St Peter’s Church, animated by the Kuching Archdiocesan Youth Commission (KAYC) and facilitated by St Peter’s Youth, organized Wonderfully Made , a one-day programme rooted in Saint Pope John Paul II’s Theology of the Body .

The programme created a safe, engaging, and Spirit-filled space for the young participants to discover their true identity as sons and daughters of God, to learn how their body and sexuality are gifts with meaning and purpose, and to understand the beauty of authentic love.

A key strength of Wonderfully Made was the involvement of youth who were closer in age to the participants. Acting as “big brothers” and “big sisters,” they created a welcoming environment where sensitive topics could be discussed openly, without fear of judgment.

By the end of the programme, it was concluded with a reflection on Psalm 139, a reminder to each participant of their worth and identity as wonderfully made children of God. They were encouraged to recognize their dignity as God’s beloved creation, to see that sexuality is not a taboo subject but part of God’s loving design, and to understand how authentic love differs from fleeting emotions.
