KUCHING — Gawai Dayak 2026 at the Church of Mother Mary, Stutong ended with the “Ngiling Bidai” Ceremony which involves the “Rolling of the Mat” held on 27 June 2026 with a Pot-Bless Fellowship followed by an evening of fun and traditional performances by way of Traditional Dayak Dance and Iban Ngajat. The evening was filled with Karaoke Performances and dances to the beat of the songs.
The event was joyously attended by its parishioners accompanied by its Rector, Monsignor William Sabang who closed the event with the rolling of the mat, a symbolic gesture to mark the end of the ceremony.
The rolling of the mat was accompanied by the Church Organising Chairperson Ms. Juliana De Rozario and Mr. Jude De Rozario, the Church’s Chairperson.
Archbishop Emeritus Dato’ Sri Peter Chung, Rev. Fr. Albert Jacobse and Rev. Fr. Martin Wong were also present at the ceremony.
