MIRI — Two half-day Recollection sessions for the Liturgy and Worship Ministry of the Miri St Joseph’s Cathedral Parish were held at the Church of Mater Dei, Lutong, over two Saturdays, on 20 September and 18 October 2025.  The sessions were conducted by Rev Fr Justin Dan in combined BM and English to accommodate volunteers from all the languages of Masses celebrated in the Parish.  Each session began with an opening Mass.

Over 350 participants from throughout the Parish attended the two sessions.  The Recollection, themed, “Called, Committed, Rooted in Christ”, was convened to remind lay liturgical volunteers of their vocation and commitment to serve the Lord and to facilitate a synodal fraternity among them.

Some of the objectives of this Recollection included:

• bringing together all peoples serving in the ministry, to have a sense that they are all part of the same Parish;

• a refresher on why they are called and their commitment to serve;

• being part of the synodal walk, to listen to issues, suggestions and take away proposals in conclusion.

Both half day sessions were filled with talks, guidance, group discussions and sharing.

Fr Justin gave insights into the different Liturgical Ministries, their responsibilities and how everyone is to carry out his different role to make the celebration of the Mass complete and joyous each time it is celebrated.  His talks, sharing and advices were well received by those who participated and all went home refreshed, renewed, inspired and ready to serve with greater joy and dedication in their respective ministries.

Praise the Lord!!
