MIRI — The Combined Home Cell Group (HCG) Opening Mass was celebrated with great reverence and joy, gathering parishioners from different language groups in a meaningful expression of unity and faith.
The Eucharistic celebration took place at the Church of Mater Dei, Lutong on 30 January 2026, drawing a strong turnout of faithful who came together to recommit themselves to the Home Cell Group ministry. The Mass was marked by a prayerful atmosphere, with parishioners actively participating in the liturgy and reflecting on the call to live out their faith within small Christian communities.
The celebration highlighted the importance of fellowship, discipleship, and shared responsibility in building a vibrant parish life. The presence of clergy, liturgical ministers, and representatives from various HCG language groups symbolised the inclusive and united nature of the Home Cell Group ministry within the parish.
Following the Mass, parishioners proceeded to Madonna Hall for a simple fellowship gathering. Members generously contributed finger food, creating a warm and welcoming environment where conversations flowed freely. The gathering provided an opportunity for members from different Home Cell Groups to reconnect, meet new faces, and strengthen bonds across language and cultural backgrounds. It also served as a reminder that Home Cell Groups are not merely meetings, but spaces where faith is lived out through relationships, mutual support, and shared mission. The spirit of cooperation was evident as parishioners worked together to organise, serve, and clean up after the gathering, reflecting the values of stewardship for our environment and community spirit.
The Combined HCG Opening Mass marks a renewed commitment to fostering closer ties among parishioners and encouraging active participation in Home Cell Groups. As the parish looks ahead, the Home Cell Group ministry continues to play an important role in nurturing faith, strengthening families, and building a more connected parish community, journeying together in faith.
