KUCHING — On 5 April, in the spirit of Lent, a meaningful visit to Cheshire Home, Kuching, was jointly organised by the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SSVP of St Joseph’s Conference) and the Red Crescent Cadet Unit of Lodge International School (RCCU193). Cheshire Home is a non-governmental organisation that provides care and shelter for individuals with physical and mental disabilities.
A total of 20 visitors, including RCCU193 cadets, SSVP members, and representatives from St Joseph’s Cathedral, came together to share their time and compassion. The group donated groceries and essentials such as adult diapers, rice, Milo, biscuits, and canned food.
The visit was filled with meaningful interactions. Volunteers visited residents in their rooms and the activity hall, engaging in warm conversations. RCCU193 cadets also held a simple drawing session for socially active residents. The residents responded with joy and creativity, producing beautiful artwork with the guidance of the cadets.
The experience was an eye-opener for many, especially the cadets, who stepped out of their comfort zones to connect with the less fortunate. It was a morning of shared joy, learning, and heartfelt encounters.
