KUCHING — The Sunday School of Holy Trinity Church, Kenyalang, Kuching had the annual “Out of classroom” on 8 March 2026, the 3rd Sunday of Lent. All the three language streams came together to give the children with their families, the experience of following Jesus’ journey through the fourteen stations of the Cross.  The outing gathered a total of 138 people including Fr Eugenio Gocela Maglasang, SDB, the Rector of Holy Trinity Church.

Against the backdrop of the natural landscape at each station, it allowed the children to use their senses and imagination to reflect on Christ’s love from condemnation to the tomb with prayers, scripture, and reflections at each station curated with Laudato Si’ theme.  The Mass celebrated by Fr Eugenio was joined by 60 other participants from St Ann’s Ladies Guild, Padawan.

Stations of the Cross.

“The Water that can Transform Lives” was the theme of Father’s homily taken from John 4:5-42, on the story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well. This passage highlights Jesus as the source of “living water,” fulfilling the spiritual thirst of the woman and the community.

Thus, it should be of no coincidence that the pilgrims young and old, encountered the 228 meters climb starting the journey with bright sunshine but later into intermittent pouring rain like silver curtain falling from Heaven until reaching the Centre. The sunshine peeked again against the cloudy sky during Mass and the fellowship of family picnic lunch. As the congregation was descending to the foothill, the even heavier downpour reset, accompanying their journey down but stopped when everyone safely boarded the buses.
