KUCHING — On Sunday 31 May 2026, parishioners of Holy Trinity Church, Kenyalang came together joyfully to celebrate the parish feast day, marking the culmination of a period of prayerful preparation and thanksgiving.
The celebrations began with a Triduum of Masses held from 27 to 29 May at 7.30pm, leading up to the feast day celebration on 31 May. This period of preparation provided an opportunity for the parish community to enter into deeper reflection and spiritual readiness for the occasion.
On the feast day itself, the celebration was graced by Archbishop Simon Poh, who presided over both the morning and evening Masses. In his homily, Archbishop Simon reflected on the significance of the occasion and highlighted the Archdiocese’s Golden Jubilee celebrations. He recalled the early foundations of the local Church, beginning with the arrival of the Mill Hill Missionaries in 1881, the establishment of the Archdiocese of Kuching in 1976, and its steady growth into the vibrant faith community it is today. He encouraged the faithful to view this rich heritage with gratitude and to draw inspiration from it as they continue their journey of faith.
Archbishop Simon also shared the Archdiocese’s five-year pastoral journey leading towards 2030, centred on the themes of Grace (2026), Gratitude (2027), Growth (2028), Gather (2029), and Glory (2030). The initiative aims to strengthen faith, foster unity, and guide the faithful towards a shared vision for the future of the Church.
Following the evening Mass, parishioners gathered at the Good Shepherd Hall for a fellowship gathering. The occasion provided an opportunity for members of the parish community to share a meal, renew friendships, and strengthen bonds of unity, making the celebration a meaningful expression of faith, gratitude, and community spirit.
As the Archdiocese celebrates 50 years of God’s blessings, the feast day served as a reminder of the importance of remembering the past with gratitude while looking forward with hope and commitment to the future mission of the Church.
