KUALA LUMPUR — A total of 114 participants from 16 parishes across the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur gathered at the Church of the Sacred Heart on June 20 for a Spiritual Warfare seminar organised by the Archdiocesan Mission of New Evangelisation for Christ (AMNEC).
Through a series of engaging presentations, Catholic speaker and evangelist Benedict Savarimuthu helped participants better understand the realities of spiritual warfare and how Christians can face life’s challenges with confidence through the power of Christ.
Drawing from Sacred Scripture and Church teaching, Benedict spoke on the reality of spiritual warfare, emphasising that the Christian journey is not merely a physical or emotional struggle but also a spiritual one. Participants were encouraged to remain rooted in prayer, the Sacraments, God’s Word, and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
The sessions were marked by attentive participation, reflection, and a spirit of openness as attendees sought to understand the workings of spiritual warfare and the ways God equips His people to stand firm against the challenges of life.
The impact of the seminar was evident in the many positive testimonies shared by participants. Diana Robert from the Church of the Visitation, Seremban, described the session as “an eye-opener and an enlightenment for my spiritual life,” adding that it answered many questions about the spiritual warfare she had experienced both personally and in her surroundings. “I came home recharged, renewed, and eager to share what I learned with my family and friends,” she said.
Daniel Arputham from the Church of the Holy Family, Kajang, spoke of the impact the seminar had on him. “I had a great day. I will remember this forever. Benedict’s faith and sharing inspired me, and I felt that Jesus was speaking through him, calling souls back to God. It touched me in a way I have never experienced before,” he shared.
Jeanette Tan and Edna Rajah from the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Puchong, described the seminar as “practical, enlightening and empowering,” while Sacred Heart parishioner Ellen Kang said the experience was “spiritually reawakening” and deepened her awareness of God’s presence and power in daily life.
Several participants also noted that the event provided valuable new insights into a subject that is often misunderstood or overlooked. For many, the day served as a timely reminder that spiritual warfare is a reality for every Christian and that victory is found in Christ through faith, prayer, and perseverance.
Bringing the seminar to a close, AMNEC coordinator Andrew Lim invited participants to continue their faith journey through the AMNEC-CCO Faith Series. He encouraged them to draw closer to Jesus, make Him the centre of their lives, and embrace their identity as missionary disciples, called to share the Gospel and fulfil Christ’s Great Commission (Matthew 28:19–20).
