KUCHING — As part of the Church’s preparation for the Malaysia Pastoral Convention (MPC 2026), the Perjalanan Salib (Journey of the Cross) continued its journey on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, with a meaningful and spiritually uplifting visit to the Home of Peace in Padawan.
Initiated by Father Davie Entalai, the program brought together various ministries from St Joseph’s Cathedral to share faith, joy, and fellowship with the residents. A total of 82 participants from the cathedral joined the event, comprising 49 members of the Catholic Senior Citizens Fellowship (CSCF), 10 from the Nurses Guild, nine from the Ladies Guild, nine from the Legion of Mary, and five from the Single Women Fellowship.
Together with Father Davie, the staff of the Home of Peace, and approximately 40 residents, the attendees gathered for a day centred around devotion to the Holy Cross.
The CSCF was tasked with coordinating the flow of the Mass and preparing the recreational activities.
The special day began early at 8:00 AM when Father Davie brought the Holy Cross (Salib) to the home. The spiritual program officially commenced at 9:00 AM with a peaceful procession as participants solemnly carried the Holy Cross into the chapel. This was followed by Holy Mass at 9:15 AM and the Veneration of the Cross, providing everyone in attendance an opportunity to express their deep devotion and share a profound spiritual experience.
Following the chapel services, the atmosphere transitioned into one of lively joy and community connection. At 10:30 AM, the group moved to the dining hall to engage in recreational activities and dances. The morning concluded beautifully at 11:30 AM with a warm lunch fellowship, offering ample time for everyone to converse, share meals, and build bonds.
The event was further enriched by the overwhelming generosity of the ministry members and guests. In support of the home, they contributed essential items requested from the Home of Peace wish list, alongside home-baked cakes and traditional kuih for the shared lunch.
The collaborative effort among the different ministries ensured the event was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact of love and companionship on the residents and visitors alike.
Last but not least, we thank the matron of Home of Peace, Sister Flora Tingang, for welcoming all participants and making the Perjalanan Salib a truly eventful and memorable one.
