KOTA SENTOSA — On 22 March 2026, the grounds of the Gethsemane Pilgrimage Centre became a sacred meeting place for young people seeking a deeper encounter with Christ. Organised by the youth of Sacred Heart Church, the Lenten Recollection 2026 drew participants into a meaningful journey of prayer, reflection, and community under the theme “Agony to Hope.”
Inspired by the words of Scripture—“And being in an agony, He prayed more earnestly…” (Luke 22:44)—the recollection invited young people to walk spiritually with Jesus in His moment of suffering, and to discover how that suffering is transformed into hope and new life.
The day began early in the morning as participants gathered and departed together by bus, symbolising not just a physical journey, but a spiritual pilgrimage. Upon arrival, the serene environment of Gethsemane set the tone for a day of quiet reflection and openness to God’s presence.
One of the central moments of the recollection was the Stations of the Cross, where participants prayerfully journeyed with Christ through His Passion. For many youths, this was not merely a ritual, but a deeply personal experience—connecting their own struggles, anxieties, and challenges with the suffering of Jesus.
This was followed by the celebration of the Holy Mass, the source and summit of Christian life. Gathered as one community, the youths were reminded that even in moments of agony, Christ remains present—offering Himself as hope, strength, and salvation.
More than just an event, the Lenten Recollection became a moment of transformation for many youths. It was a reminder that faith is not distant or abstract, but alive and relevant—especially in moments of struggle.
As the day came to a close, participants returned home not only with memories, but with renewed hearts.
