KUCHING — On Tuesday, 24 March 2026, a total of 50 Junior Legionaries from three Praesidia—Our Lady Queen of Virgins, Our Lady of the Star, and Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted—gathered bright and early at St Joseph’s Parish to begin their Lenten retreat. Organised by Our Lady Queen & Mother Praesidium, the retreat brought together young members in a spirit of prayer, reflection, and fellowship during the school holidays.

The journey began at dawn as participants assembled at the parish gallery before departing for Kampung Sentah. Upon arrival at the foot of Mt Sentah, the retreat commenced with the Stations of the Cross. As the Junior Legionaries made their way up in prayer, they were invited to reflect on Christ’s journey, making the experience both physically engaging and spiritually meaningful.

Reaching St Gerard Majella’s Church, the group continued with the Legion prayers, including the Rosary and Catena, grounding the retreat in the rich traditions of the Legion of Mary. This was followed by a lively session of singing, sharing, and interactive activities, fostering a joyful and supportive community among the young members.

The highlight of the retreat was the celebration of the Holy Mass by the Kuching Comitium Spiritual Director, Fr Nicholas Ng. The Eucharistic celebration served as a profound moment of grace, drawing all present closer to God and deepening their appreciation of the Lenten season.

The day concluded with the Legion’s concluding prayers and a group photo. Participants were then treated to a delicious lunch lovingly prepared by the local Bidayuh community at Mount Sentah. Their warm hospitality and generous effort were deeply appreciated, adding a special touch of fellowship and cultural richness to the retreat experience.

After lunch, the group made their descent back to the meeting point. Tired but spiritually refreshed, the Junior Legionaries returned to St Joseph’s Parish in the afternoon, carrying with them renewed faith, strengthened friendships, and meaningful memories of their Lenten journey together.
