KUCHING — His Excellency, Mr Peter Spišiak, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Malaysia had a meeting with Senior Representatives of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kuching on 10 August 2026 at the Archdiocesan Curia and Cathedral Pastoral Centre (ACCPC). His Excellency was on a 3-day official visit to Kuching.
The Vicar General of the Catholic Archdiocese, Rev Msgr William Sabang, on behalf of Kuching Archbishop Most Rev Dato Dr Simon Poh, extended a warm welcome to H.E.
Also present were Rev Fr Nicholas Ng, Rector of St Joseph’s Cathedral Kuching, and Ms Bernadine Sammy, Secretary General of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council.
The exchange between the two parties focused on the historical background of both States, their rich cultures and traditions, missionary contributions in education and health, and the growth of Christianity in Sarawak. H.E. expressed hope that both parties would have the opportunity to explore shared areas of interest, including education, ecclesial matters (given the widespread practice of Catholicism in Slovakia), and culture.
His Excellency also toured the History Gallery at ACCPC and later visited St Peter’s College Seminary where he was received by the Rector, Rev Fr Patrick Heng, who is also the Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Kuching.
