KUCHING — The parish community of St Peter’s Church celebrated the Feast of St Peter with a spiritually enriching three-day triduum from 27 to 29 June 2026, preparing hearts and minds through reflections centred on the precious relic of our patron saint.
The reflections explored the themes of “Relics of Saints in Everyday Life” (Day 1), “St Peter’s Relic: A Gift to Us” (Day 2), and “St Peter’s Relic and Our Faith Today” (Day 3), inviting the faithful to deepen their appreciation of the communion of saints and the apostolic legacy of St Peter.

Throughout the triduum, the relic of St Peter was displayed for veneration 30 minutes before each Mass, giving parishioners the opportunity to pray and seek the intercession of the Prince of the Apostles. At the conclusion of every Mass, a special blessing with the relic was imparted to the congregation, making the celebration a profound spiritual experience for all.

On 29 June, the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul also marked the first anniversary of the consecration of the new St Peter’s Church. Adding to the joy of the celebration, the Sunday School children enriched the liturgy with their beautiful singing. At the conclusion of the Mass, Rev Fr Vincent Chin, Rector of St Peter’s Church, led the children and the congregation in praying the Prayer of St Peter while kneeling before the relic, entrusting the parish to the intercession of its patron and renewing its commitment to live the Gospel with courage and hope.

As the celebration drew to a close, the faithful were reminded of St Peter’s heartfelt profession of faith and love: “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” (John 21:17). May this simple yet profound prayer continue to inspire every member of the parish to grow in love for Christ and, like St Peter, faithfully answer the Lord’s call: “Feed my sheep.”
