KUCHING — Rev Fr Nicholas Ng celebrated his 40th Anniversary of Priesthood on 20 August 2026 with a modest-scale thanksgiving dinner organised by the St Joseph’s Cathedral Parish Pastoral council. The dinner was held at a local restaurant after the 5.30pm daily Mass presided by Fr Nicholas himself.
Fr Nicholas was ordained by Archbishop Peter Chung (the archbishop then), at St Joseph’s Cathedral on 20 August 1986. He has served in parishes in the Archdiocese of Kuching notably at St Joseph’s Cathedral Kuching and St Stephen’s Parish Bau where he served for a number of years as parish priest. He was also the former Rector of St Peter’s College Major Seminary, Kuching before returning to St Joseph’s Cathedral Parish in 2021 to serve as Rector.
Over the years, many parishioners had the privilege of knowing and working with Fr Nicholas who is known for his patience, humility and spiritual guidance.
We thank and praise God for the gift of a priest in the person of Fr Nicholas Ng for his faithful service to the people of God for the past 40 years. May God continue to bless Fr Nicholas, fill him with deep joy and grant him strength and wisdom in his sacred ministry for many more years to come.
