KUCHING — On 16 August 2026, Home of Peace (HOP) celebrated Fr John Chong’s 39th Priestly Anniversary and marked his farewell after five years of service as Chaplain from 2021 to 2026.
A thanksgiving and farewell lunch was held after Sunday Mass at the Our Lady of Peace Chapel, attended by friends, parishioners, HOP residents and staff, CWS Chairman Jacob Wong and committee members.
Fr John shared his experiences of ministering to the elderly, describing his years at HOP as a meaningful opportunity to witness to the Catholic faith through service, care and love. He expressed gratitude to God and to all who had supported his ministry.
As Fr John moves on to a new assignment in the Diocese of Miri, the HOP community thanked him for his dedicated service and wished him every blessing in his new journey.
