Rev Fr Nicholas Ng celebrated his 40th Anniversary of Priesthood on 20 August 2026 with a modest-scale thanksgiving dinner organised by the St Joseph’s Cathedral Parish Pastoral council. The dinner was held at a local restaurant after the 5.30pm daily Mass presided by Fr Nicholas himself.

The 1st OCDS World Meeting was held in Avila, Spain from 23-26 July, 2026. It was attended by more than 900 Secular Carmelites from 80 countries around the world. Malaysia was represented by Annie Yeo, Catherine Sim and Eta Ting from Christ the King OCDS Community, Kuching, and Theresa Chuah from Fraternity of St Teresa and St John of the Cross OCDS Community, Kuala Lumpur.

St Joseph’s Cathedral Parish Ladies Guild, Kuching made a trip to Penang/ Bukit Mertajam on the Feast of St Anne. The Ladies Guild was led by their Spiritual Directress Sr Stella Tan and the visit was from 24-28 July 2026.

His Excellency, Mr Peter Spišiak, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Malaysia had a meeting with Senior Representatives of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kuching on 10 August 2026 at the Archdiocesan Curia and Cathedral Pastoral Centre (ACCPC). His Excellency was on a 3-day official visit to Kuching.

In an increasingly digital world, the centuries-old task of passing on the Catholic faith is encountering new tools. From Sept. 17 to 19, 38 catechists, including religious sisters and lay educators from across the Diocese of Surat Thani, gathered at the Pastoral Center in Surat Thani for a seminar on “AI and Catechesis.”
